This is a beautiful tailwater on the Oregon/Idaho border which is about an hour away from Boise! Certainly not a secret, but one that cannot handle pressure like the San Juan, as all the fish in this river are naturally reproducing fish. The number and types of insects on this river are astounding. PMD and Caddis are prolific, stones early in the season, and midges all year long, but predominant in the winter months.

This was one of the most colored up browns I have seen in quite sometime. It is amazing how the fish vary in color within the same watershed. This guy was about 19" and caught on a PMD Dun, size 20, under a bush in a fast riffle. The fish keyed on the duns for 25 minutes and two minutes after this fish was caught they turned onto something subsurface.
